Մասնագիտական գործունեության առաջին քայլերը Տաթևը արել է Սարասոտա օպերայի բեմահարթակում՝ հանդես գալով Մոցարտի «Կախարդական սրինգ» օպերայում: Այնուհետեւ 3 տարի անընդմեջ հրավիրվել Նյու Յորքի «Nuovo» օպերային թատրոն՝ հանդես գալով մի շարք հեղինակավոր օպերային ներկայացումներում, այդ թվում՝ Բելլինիի «Օտարերկրուհին», Դոնիցետտիի «Մեհմեդ II», Ջ. Ռոսսինիի «Սեվիլյան սափրիչ», «Ստաբատ մատեր», Վերդիի «Տրավիատա» և այն:
