How to start a start-up
"I have a great idea for a business, but I don’t know where to start”. Sounds familiar?
Today, the word “start-up” has become something of a buzzword. People everywhere are trying to figure out what kind of initiatives fall into the cool new category. Is a newly opened café a start-up in the same way as a mobile app that reports in our health conditions? Can we really put an artistic pop-up gallery in the same category as a new, locally-driven social network?
What do these things have in common, and how can we best make a success out of them?
Whatever your passion or area of interest, strong planning is required before you move from paper to practice and turn your super-cool idea into a rock-star business. So, have you planned what part of your start-up will convert first-time users into long-term fans?
On 12th May, Kolba Lab will host Armen Margarian, author of “The Essentials of Doing Business in Armenia”, to deliver a public talk on how to start up your start-up (pun regretfully intended). Armen will be talking about a range of interesting topics, including:
•What to consider before diving into an ocean of opportunities and risks.
•How to market and position your ideas effectively.
•How to better understand the human needs and emotions of your users, and why that’s a good idea.
•How to get practical (whether planning your budget, keeping your business plan realistic, building a model based on growth, etc.)
Armen Margarian is the co-founder/CEO of NexusLab Inc, manager at The Margarian Law Firm and publisher of the Consumer Law Magazine, Startup Law Magazine and Wise Car Shopper magazine.
The talk is part of #Inno4dev: Innovation for Development project, which is funded by the European Union.
