"Permaculture"-ը գյուղատնտեսական և սոցիալական նախագծման սկզբունքների մի համակարգ է, որը կենտրոնացած է բնական էկոհամակարգերի հատկանիշները նմանակելու կամ ուղղակիորեն օգտագործելու վրա: «Permaculture» բառն ի սկզբանե վերաբերել է «մշտական գյուղատնտեսությանը», բայց ընդլայնվել և իր մեջ է ներառել նաև «մշտական մշակույթը», քանի որ հասկանալի էր, որ սոցիալական ասպեկտները կայուն համակարգի անբաժանելի մաս են:

Permaculture is a system of agricultural and social design principles centered around simulating or directly utilizing the patterns and features observed in natural ecosystems. The word permaculture originally referred to "permanent agriculture", but was expanded to stand also for "permanent culture", as it was understood that social aspects were integral to a truly sustainable system.
