Matushka & The Jetbird live in Calumet

Matushka is a psychedelic rock band from Saint-Petersburg, Russia. Their name translates as "Mama", and this is one rocket-riding mutha, oh yes. Channelling an ancient vibe where early Hawkwind blend their endless, hi-energy riffage with Amon Duul II's Kosmische slop, this is the kind of thing that will turn your head into a mushroom, especially if you are listening at the proscribed, foundation-shattering volume. The Jetbird was founded on the remains of STR!ING, a popular Georgian rock band, by their frontman, David Lomidze joined by his cousin, Tony. The band mixes dirty distorted blues with groovy southern rock tunes at their best, definitely something to look out for fans of Jack White, Reignwolf and the likes!
