Photo & Video exhibition "Who am I?"

«Հոդված 3» ակումբը սիրով հրավիրում է մասնակցելու ազգությամբ թուրք լուսանկարիչ Ումութ Վեդաթի ֆոտո և վիդեո ցուցահանդեսին, որը տեղի կունենա նոյեմբերի 4-ին, ժամը 17:30-ին։
Ցուցահանդեսի մասին՝ «Ո՞վ եմ ես» խորագիրը կրող ցուցահանդեսը հեղինակի ինքնաճանաչողության, պայքարի և քաղաքացիական ինքնության ընթացքի ելակետային հանգրվաններն է պատկերում: Lուսանկարները հիմնականում ներկայացնում են Թուրքիայում հայկական մշակութային ժառանգությունը և հեղինակի՝ որպես քաղաքացիական ակտիվիստի կայացման ուղին, ով տարիներ շարունակ պայքարում է խտրականության դեմ և բարձրաձայնում մշակույթի, մշակութային ժառանգության պահպանման ու բնապահպանության ոլորտում առկա խնդիրները։
Ցուցահանդեսը նաև հնարավորություն է հեղինակի համար հաղորդակցվելու հայ հասարակության հետ և հասունացնելու հաջորդ ֆիլմի գաղափարը, որն անդրադառնալու է նրա կյանքի ուղուն՝ որպես Թուրքիայում ապրող անհատի, ով առերեսվել է ճշմարտությանը, բացահայտել Ցեղասպանության հետևանքները: Ֆիլմի ստեղծումն ինքնին քայլ առ քայլ ինքնաճանաչման ու բացահայտման գործընթաց է` Թուրքիայի պատմության պաշտոնական տարբերակի և լռության մեջ խեղդված ճշմարտության, որն էլ դառնալու է հեղինակի անհատական մանիֆեստը` խնդիրները բարձրաձայնելու և հանրությանը պարտադրելու հարցականի տակ դնել կամ, առնվազն, քննարկել պաշտոնական պատմությունը: Ֆիլմի նախնական տարբերակը ևս կներկայացվի ցուցահանդեսի ընթացքում։
Հեղինակի մասին՝ «Ես ծնվել եմ Ստամբուլում 1980 թ-ին շարքային ընտանիքում։ Ինչպես մարդկանց մեծամասնությունը, ես ևս ստիպված էի սովորել պետության կողմից մշակված պատմության դասագրքերով` պատմության մի մեխանիզմ, որ պարտադրում է կամ մոռանալ ու վերացնել, կամ մերժել ու արհամարհել ճշմարտությունը։ Առաջին անգամ իմ սովորածը կասկածի տակ դրեցի, երբ 2008թ-ին Ստամբուլ-Երևան ավտոբուսով ճամփորդում էի Վրաստան։ Հետո սկսեցի մտածել լքված շինությունների մասին, որ տեսել էի Թուրքիայում նախկինում։ Այդ ժամանակից ի վեր սկսեցի խորանալ պատմության մեջ և գտնել իմ կյանքի չբարձրաձայնված ճշմարտությունը։ Ցուցահանդեսն իմ չորս տարվա աշխատանքի, ինքնության փնտրտուքի և պատմության մյուս կողմը բացահայտելու ջանքերի ամփոփումն է»:

“Article 3” Club is pleased to host a photo&video exhibition by Turkish photographer Umut Vedat 4th of November 2017 at 5:30pm. The exhibition entitled “Who Am I?” is the self reflection of the artist and refers to mainly two topics, as Armenian heritage in Turkey and Umut’s path as an activist who acts against any forms of discrimination and raises issues in the fields of culture and environment. As to conclude “Who Am I?” and to express his personal feelings there will be some samples from his video art projects as well.

“I was born in Istanbul at 1980 as the first born child of an average middle class family in Turkey and like the majority of people I had been exposed by the state history books, the history mechanism that is based on to make people ‘leave it forgotten or to destroy, neglect and ignore the truth.’ I guess the first time I actually started to question that there was something wrong with how I know the history, was with my first trip to Georgia by Istanbul-Yerevan ordinary travel bus in 2008… Then I started to think about the abandoned structures I had seen in Turkey during my work/travel. This is where I actually started to dig into the history and find the unspoken truth of my life. The exhibition will sum up four year endeavors of the artist of digging into the history and revealing the second side of the coin.”
The exhibition is also a chance for Umut to interact with people living in Armenia and collect ideas for a future film project, which will be visual reflection of artist’s life story. More specifically it will be a step by step understanding process of the conflicts between the exposed history in Turkey and the unspoken truth in his life and starting from this personal manifest then aiming to show/share these steps especially with the Turkish public and to make them question. The film is a guideline on how he met with the truth by seeing and facing with the consequences of the Genocide. Please join the process of screenplay development of this film and be updated for future movie planned for 2018-2019.
